Hi again and thank you for replying. My ring was bought in Pennsylvania, but I now live in Greenville, SC. Here are the details of my ring:
CGAL certificate # is 10540615.
Shape: Modified Round Brilliant Cut
Carat Weight: 0.56 ct (s)
Color: H
Clarity: VS2
Comments: Girdle laser inscribed
Mounted in 14K White Gold
We bought this at Littman Jewelers in Lancaster, PA. I believe it was on sale for around $2,000. So far all I have been offered for it is $300? I understand that the mark up with a Jewelry Store is outrageous, but I was hoping to get a little more than the $300 I’ve been offered? They simply tell me that my GCAL card means nothing?
Again, thank you so much! I really need to sell this ring and I was hoping for at least $450?

With the CGal certificate you stone is most likely a SI1 clarity we have never seen a stone called a modified round brilliant. In this market you would be lucky to get 400.00 for it. You should have never paid in any store more than 1,000.00 for this stone markup is high yes, but some places mark it up way to much… I am so sorry to hear you are having trouble selling it I wish you the best we just do not know anyone in your area. We do beleive that you should be able to get 400.00 for it keep looking if you are not in a hurry to sell you might want to go online and type in every jewelry store in the area you live in. Call them and let them know what you have see if they can give you a price over the phone based on your diamond information…
Good Luck
Hi, I am trying to sell a diamond engagement ring and apparently my GCAL certificate is worthless? Can someone tell me if this is common with GCAL? I have a beautiful round solitaire diamond that came with the card, but it seems as though I’m not going to get much for it considering the certificate is not considered of any value?
Thanks so much for any advice you could give me.

We can give you a appox worth if you could give us the cut, color, clarity, carat weight. What state do you live in we might know someone in your state you can take it to. As far a certif is concerned GIA is the best and if you cert has anything about retail value it will not mean anything. Did you have an appraisal done on the ring? Let us know we would like to help if we can..
